Alex Schmidt began dancing as a child at a studio in Tampa, Florida. During her first three years of high school, she trained with Next Generation Ballet, led by Peter Stark. In her senior year, she moved to San Francisco to join the two-year Alonzo King LINES Ballet training program and graduated in 2017. Now living in New York, Alex works as a dancer, choreographer, creator, and teacher. In December 2025, she premiered her first self-produced evening-length work, Cold Case, to sold-out audiences. She performs with Michiyaya Dance Company and Valleto Dance, and she co-founded TWO IN SEVEN BILLION. She is also a dance teacher and choreographer at studios across the Tri-State area. As a freelance dancer and choreographer, she enjoys making her own work and performances and looks forward to creating her next show.
Alex earned degrees in Criminology and Psychology from the University of Florida in 2020, finishing her studies while in the LINES program. In 2023, she completed a Master’s in Forensic Psychology with a certification in Victimology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. She recently started teaching dance classes in maximum-security prisons in New York through Rehabilitation Through the Arts.
